Hi Guys,

Ive been away for awhile and for that i apolagize.
New babies are fun, hehe.

Rock 95 is still on the air, we just added The Mix Rock format to the schedule and it sounds great, except for one little problem.

I seem to be getting overlapped streams using Zararadio software.
Whats happening is, right after the station i.d. , Zara should pick up the current stream in the playlist ... either k107fm or The Mix Rock.

K107fm is carried on the week-ends while The Mix Rock is played during the weekdays. I am hearing the current stream and then beneath that i hear the same stream only with a few second delay.

I kind of suspect the processing software is to blame but im not sure.
It seem i remember a post awhile back here in the forum that some stations could not run the processing software because it added chopping when fading from one song or program to another. Maybe this is the case here at rock 95.
Currently i am playing a back up playlist until i can figure out whats causing this overlap problem.

I am on a tight budget so buying a seperate processor is not an option for me. I did make sure that the crossfade option was turned off in Zara software. I still have this problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I experience a similar problem occasionally when a webstream is in a playlist.

Seems what's happening is a brief silence in the webstream program is picked up by the silence detector. Zara would start the next item in the playlist just an instant after the webstream silence ended.

The webstream didn't drop but the playlist went on. Since the playlist went on the time period set in the playlist was no longer active. As such, the webstream just continues with no time limit.

Usually, I have to quit Zara to stop the webstream.

This has happened only a few times. Since I'm not usually sitting right there when it happens, it's hard to be sure why it happens. As a precaution, I've upped the silence detector time hoping that will resolve the problem.

In your case, it sounds like the silence detector tries to stop the stream and doesn't. Then a second stream of the same program starts up.

It is a known bug in ZaraRadio. Disable the silence detector and it will not happen. That's what I had to do.

I opted to increase the silence detector time. Occasionally a web stream either won't start or due to bandwidth problems becomes chronically interrupted.

As such I need the silence detector to kill that stream if I'm not available to do so. So far so good. I haven't had a stream glitch in a while.

Did you get the "bug" report from the Zara Forum? I'd like to read what they had to say about it.

I think ill try both options guys.
Ill try turning off the silence detector first, if that doesnt work ill raise the time on the detector and see what happens then.

If neither one of those work then ill post on the zara website to see what comes out of it.

Also i have a sneaking suspicion that my Dsl provider maybe causing this as well, both my wife and i play online games, specifically World of Warcraft, we experience lag and disconnects frequently.

My solution for that? I might drop the dsl and go to cable internet from the local cable company. Wich brings me to another question.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever been able to convince their local cable company to carry your broacast? If so how did you convince them to do so?

THanks

Wow!
Such a simple solution to a minor headache.
I turned off the silence detector and zap!! no more overlapped streams and the station never sounded better.

Currently Rock 95 is playing The Rock Mix during the week and at about midnight on fridays the stream from k107fm takes over until Monday Morning or at midnight monday morning. I have had many offers from different part 15 stations as well as online streaming stations. I am juggling the station, wich is a hobby for me and family so I have not had much time to preview any potential programming but i am always open to offers and suggestions.

Thanks for the help and as always, keep rockin"

The bug has been mentioned several times in the ZaraRadio forums. It was promised to be fixed in the next version (whenever that comes out). I don't remember that any details were given, except what you have already experienced.
