Underdog Back on the air!

April 20, 2011 by underdog

I’m back! It’s been a while since I posted here on the part 15 site. In 2006 I started my journey into the music world as a full-time musician and collected a lot of free music from other independent musicians just like me. With the help of Part15.us I erected Underdog Radio’s AM transmitter, put those songs on the air and started broadcasting to my neighbors. The station ran until sometime last year when the power supply died. At that time I was to busy with touring, producing and other aspects of my quickly growing music career so AM 1610 went off the air, the computer was thrown in a closet, the transmitter was put into storage and my days in radio were done. Then the other day I was looking for some chords that I needed in the recording studio and I stumbled upon a power supply that would work to power my transmitter. In 1hour I had the transmitter up in a temporary location transmitting again! To make a long story short within a week I put Underdog Radio online streaming to the world with ubroadcast.com. Once the snow melts here again I’ll take some pictures and share my setup.

Tallest Transmitter tower colapses in winter storm

March 24, 2011 by underdog

Tuesday night during another Wisconsin winter storm the tallest structure in America feel to the ground. The skyline here looks pretty bare without it. You can find a video and more about it here. http://www.wqow.com/Global/story.asp?S=14308227 That’s my fellow electronics nerd friend Carl who they interviewed. There has been a great outreach with the local ABC channel giving up on of it’s digital channels to allow NBC back on the airwaves. They are now broadcasting 18.3 in Eau Claire WI and 50.1 in Lacrosse WI

Underdog radio FREE weekly program to rebroadcast!

January 8, 2010 by underdog

3 years ago I spent one winter building my own radio transmitter with big dreams to have my very own free and legal radio station and become like Kris in the morning on KBHR. I also spent that winter watching DVD’s of Northern Exposure as you could have guessed.

I had just lost my job due to a unexplained illness which know has been explained now years later as chronic lymes. Down on my luck I needed to keep my mind busy so I had my first experience with social networking over the Internet at part15.us. These guys helped me with engineering questions and in no time I had my radio station up and running with plans on moving it to another location where there was more than 2 listeners with in my 1/2 mile broadcast range. Well sorry to say that never happened I soon released my first Album as a singer songwriter and started down the road as a professional musician. After meeting many great people on the road and having sometime to sit back and relax this winter I though I would help introduce you all to some of these musicians and there music together meet some more along the way. So join me weekly at Under Dog Radio! This show is free to re broadcast and share in any way you see fit!
